05.14.03 and thereabouts.

at this convenience store adjacent to the chinatown shuttle ticket counter, there was this little kitten staring out the door. i almost stepped on it. but isn't it the cutest rittle fritter ever?

brian, austin, and i headed over to the north end for lunch on saturday. i just had to try pizzeria regina, after all the unequivocal raves it was getting on chowhound.

the nice pizzaiolo gives us a peek. and here we are, trying to take pictures covertly. he probably thought we were a bunch of annoying japanese tourists.

i have to say, i don't really get it. i mean, the pizza was really only middling. i think it's supposed to be neapolitan, but the crust, while it maintains its crunchy integrity, has none of those lovely irregular charred spots that make it authentic (and which pepe's in new haven is especially adept at making). plus, the crust was just bland. i didn't really notice anything special about the toppings. i have to say, i think i might like the haymarket slice better than regina. but the feel is right on -- it reminds me of grimaldi's.

oh, these guys were great. a coupla regular old nonni camping out on the street in their lawn chairs. love it.

brian pretending to be at the wheel of his beloved mini. well, actually, someone else's that was parked at the curb. it's almost like he's driving it. almost. (someday, brian -- someday.)

here we are at modern pastry. austin gives the goodies a once-over. i still don't get why everyone flocks to mike's pastry, when modern is several orders of magnitude better.

a cannolo. and a scary close-up of brian.

and a scarier one of me with the remains of the cannolo.
